ISLAMABAD: In a significant move, the services of 74 contractual employees working in the Wafaql Mohtasib Secretariat (WMS) have been regularized, following the directives of the National Assembly Special Committee on Affected Employees. This decision was made under the Chairmanship of Mr. Qadir Khan Mandokhel, PPP MNA, through a letter dated 06.06.2023.
The Implementation Committee of WMS, established specifically for this purpose, put forward recommendations that were subsequently approved by the Honorable Wafaql Mohtasib. This decision, made in accordance with Article-20 of P.O.1 of 1983, will be implemented immediately at the WMS Headquarters in Islamabad and its Regional Offices.
The regularization of these employees is a significant step towards providing job security and stability to the individuals who have been working on a contractual basis since many years. It reflects the commitment of the government to address the concerns of affected employees and ensure fair treatment in the workplace.
By regularizing the services of these 74 individuals, the WMS aims to foster a positive work environment, boost morale, and enhance productivity within the organization. This decision not only acknowledges the valuable contributions of these employees but also establishes a precedent for similar cases in the future.
The move has been welcomed by the affected employees and is expected to have a positive impact on their personal and professional lives. It also serves as a testament to the government’s commitment to upholding workers’ rights and promoting job security across various sectors.
With the successful regularization of the contractual employees at WMS, the government continues to demonstrate its dedication to creating an inclusive and supportive work environment. This step will undoubtedly encourage other organizations to review their employment policies and consider similar measures for their contractual staff.
The Wafaql Mohtasib’s decision highlights the importance of recognizing the contributions and efforts of employees, ensuring their job stability, and fostering a sense of belonging within the workplace. The Committee under the chairmanship of Qasim Mandokhel has been striving hard to regularise services of government employees who have been working on contracts since long.
