ISLAMABAD: Pawan Dhande officially began his tenure as the Director of Communication and Public Diplomacy at the British High Commission, taking over from Fouzia Younis, who has been appointed as the British Consul General in Toronto. Dhande marked his first day in the new role by hosting a reception for journalists at his residence.
During the event, Dhande expressed his enthusiasm for his new position, describing the initial interactions with his colleagues as “brilliant and wonderful.” He specifically praised the Communication Team, referring to them as “superstars.”
In his address, Dhande extended an invitation to journalists covering Pakistan, civil society groups, and anyone involved in sharing the UK-Pakistan narrative, encouraging them to reach out and engage in constructive dialogue.
Reflecting on his personal journey, Dhande acknowledged his humble background as a child of two migrant parents from an inner-city environment. He expressed gratitude for the opportunity to represent the UK abroad, highlighting it as a testament to the inclusivity and progressiveness of modern-day Britain, made possible through the collective efforts of many.
