NAVEED SIDDIQUI
ISLAMABAD: The Ministry of Foreign Affairs summoned the Indian Charge d’ Affaires Saturday to register a strong protest against the ceasefire violation committed by Indian forces in the Satwal Sector of the Line of Control (LoC). The incident, which occurred on June 24, 2023, resulted in the killing of two civilians and the injury of another individual.

Pakistan condemned the deplorable act of targeting innocent civilians by the Indian forces, emphasizing that such senseless actions flagrantly violate the 2003 Ceasefire Understanding, which was reaffirmed in February 2021. It was further emphasized that the deliberate targeting of civilians goes against principles of human dignity, as well as international human rights and humanitarian laws.

The Indian side was urged to uphold the Ceasefire Understanding, conduct a thorough investigation into the incident, and take measures to ensure peace along the Line of Control.

This latest development adds to the ongoing tensions between India and Pakistan, underscoring the urgent need for both nations to prioritize dialogue and diplomatic channels to address their longstanding issues and maintain regional stability.
