ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) Board, chaired by Chairman Noor Alamin Mengal, convened an important meeting at the CDA Headquarters on Tuesday. During the meeting, the board made significant decisions, including the approval of the budget for the financial year 2023-24 and several exciting projects.

One of the notable projects given the green light by the CDA board is the construction of the world’s largest bird aviary in F-9 Park, Islamabad. Covering an extensive area of ten acres, the aviary aims to breed birds from various parts of the world. This ambitious initiative serves a dual purpose: preserving biodiversity by providing a sanctuary for different bird species and offering educational and recreational opportunities to park visitors. The construction of the aviary will follow the DBOT model (Design, Build, Operate, and Transfer) and will be open for bidding through an auction.

Additionally, the CDA board approved the layout plan for Sector D-13, E-13, and F-13. These sectors’ revised layout plans were presented and will be designed in accordance with modern standards, taking into consideration the requirements of the present era, based on the board’s opinions and instructions.

In a bid to promote investment and development, the board also sanctioned the open auction of 20 plots in Capital Street, Islamabad. Moreover, rules and regulations for Capital Street were approved, with a directive to make them investor-friendly, ensuring a conducive environment for potential investors.

Furthermore, the CDA board finalized the budget for the upcoming financial year, amounting to Rs 150,948.20 million. The estimated expenditure of the Capital Development Authority for the same period is projected to be Rs 150,095.74 million, resulting in a surplus of Rs 852.46 million from the current budget.

These decisions made by the CDA board reflect their commitment to the development and progress of Islamabad, emphasizing initiatives that preserve biodiversity, enhance urban planning, and foster investment opportunities. The approved projects and budget allocations are poised to shape the city’s future and improve the quality of life for its residents.
