RAWALPINDI: In a significant diplomatic initiative, General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff, undertook a series of strategic meetings with key US Government and Military officials during his ongoing visit to the United States.
Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) statement said General Munir held discussions with top US officials, including Antony J. Blinken, Secretary of State, and General Llyod J. Austin (Retired), Secretary of Defense, addressing crucial matters of bilateral interest, global and regional security issues, and ongoing conflicts. Both sides expressed a commitment to sustained engagement to explore potential avenues of bilateral collaboration in pursuit of shared interests.
Defense collaboration and counter-terrorism cooperation were identified as central pillars of collaboration during meetings with defense officials. Both sides reiterated their intent to intensify interactions and explore ways to expand mutually beneficial engagements.
COAS underscored the importance of understanding each other’s perspectives on regional security issues. He particularly emphasized the need to resolve the Kashmir Issue in accordance with international law and relevant UNSC resolutions.
General Munir also engaged with the Pakistani overseas community during a reception hosted by the Embassy of Pakistan. He commended the positive role played by the diaspora towards the progress and development of Pakistan.
Addressing the Pakistani community, COAS highlighted the US as the largest export market for Pakistan, constituting 21.5% of total exports. He dispelled rumors regarding special screening, denial of visas, and detentions, emphasizing the high regard in which the Pakistani diaspora is held.
Members of the Pakistani community expressed their pride in the role and contributions of the Pakistan Army toward the well-being of the nation. COAS extended good wishes to the entire Pakistani community and acknowledged the heroism of individuals, such as Mr. Tanweer Ahmed, who generously donated $9 million for IT development at NUST.

By Naveed Siddiqui
RAWALPINDI: In a daring attempt to breach security, five terrorists, including a suicide bomber, targeted the Police Lines in Tank City Friday. Swift and valiant resistance from the local police, supported by mobilized security forces, foiled the attackers’ sinister plot.
The incident unfolded as the terrorists sought to infiltrate the Police Lines, met with fierce resistance from the courageous policemen on duty. In response, security forces were immediately deployed to bolster the efforts of the local police. In the ensuing operation, all five terrorists were neutralized.
Tragically, the bravery exhibited by three gallant Policemen came at the cost of their lives, as they embraced shahadat during the intense firefight. Their sacrifice stands as a solemn testament to the unyielding resolve of law enforcement in the fight against terrorism.
Pakistan’s security forces continue to stand united with other law enforcement agencies, emphasizing their commitment to maintaining peace and stability throughout the nation. The effective response and sacrifice of the Policemen underscore the collective determination to combat the persistent threat of terrorism.
