COAS engages in discourse with US Think Tanks on Regional Security

RAWALPINDI: In a candid exchange with members of prominent US think tanks and media, General Syed Asim Munir, Chief of Army Staff (COAS), conveyed Pakistan’s stance on regional security, transnational terrorism, and the crucial role of maintaining strategic stability in South Asia.
COAS emphasized Pakistan’s significance geopolitically and geoeconomically, expressing the country’s ambition to become a connectivity hub and a gateway to Central Asia and beyond.
Pakistan, he stated, avoids Bloc Politics and seeks balanced relationships with all friendly nations, aspiring to broaden its engagement with the U.S through a long-term, multi-domain partnership.
The COAS described his interactions with U.S. political and military leadership as positive and forward-looking, aiming to strengthen the bilateral relationship.
Pakistan’s enduring fight against transnational terrorism, marked by significant contributions and sacrifices, was underscored by COAS in support of regional stability and global peace.
Stressing the need for the resolution of the Kashmir Issue based on the aspirations of the Kashmiri people and UN Security Council Resolutions, COAS asserted that unilateral actions cannot alter the internationally accepted nature of this dispute.
COAS highlighted the immediate need for ending suffering in Gaza, providing humanitarian assistance, and implementing a two-state solution for enduring peace in the region.
