lSLAMABAD: In response to recent remarks made by the Deputy Interim Foreign Minister of Afghanistan regarding the legality and sanctity of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border, Pakistan’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs issued a statement rebuffing the claims.
Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, dismissed the Afghan official’s assertions as “self-serving and fanciful” in a statement released to the media. Baloch emphasized that geographical, historical, and international legal facts cannot be altered by such claims.
Furthermore, the statement advised Afghan authorities to prioritize addressing Pakistan’s legitimate security concerns over engaging in what was termed “unfortunate public pronouncements.” Pakistan reiterated its commitment to facilitating regulated movement of people and goods across the border, emphasizing adherence to interstate norms.

The statement concluded by affirming Pakistan’s intention to continue taking steps to ensure the smooth functioning of the Pakistan-Afghanistan border.
The exchange highlights ongoing tensions between Pakistan and Afghanistan over border issues, underscoring the challenges faced in maintaining diplomatic relations between the neighboring nations.
