ISLAMABAD: In response to the directives of the Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA), the Water Management Wing has intensified efforts to address the water scarcity issue in the federal capital, ensuring uninterrupted water supply for citizens. Notably, repair works and maintenance, including the replacement of aging pipelines at the Simli Water Filtration Plant and Main Condition Line, have been swiftly executed, saving up to 8 lakh gallons of water daily and enhancing pipeline water pressure. Sector G-7/3 has also seen the resolution of leakage complaints in water supply lines. With water levels dwindling in dams like Khanpur due to insufficient monsoon rains, the Water Supply Department is working tirelessly to mitigate the impending water shortage ahead of summer. Plans are underway to install four new tube wells in strategic sectors like F-10, F-11, G-10, and G-11, with tenders already published to expedite the process. Additionally, a budget of 60 crore rupees has been allocated to address water leakages across various networks. To further assist citizens, a water tanker service has been activated, alongside dedicated helpline numbers and a WhatsApp complaint registration system. Citizens are urged to conserve water, with stringent measures in place against wastage.
