ISLAMABAD: Deputy Chief of Mission Andrew Schofer delivered a poignant address today at the International Conference on Combating Trafficking and Bonded Labor of Women and Girls in Pakistan.

Schofer expressed gratitude to the Sustainable Social Development Organization and the Pakistan-U.S. Alumni Network for orchestrating the crucial gathering of stakeholders committed to combating human trafficking.

In his speech, Schofer shed light on the intricate nature of human trafficking, highlighting the exploitation of communication, finance, transportation, and commerce systems by criminal networks. He stressed the imperative of forging global partnerships transcending borders and industries to effectively combat these nefarious activities.

The Deputy Chief of Mission underscored the significance of utilizing technology to address the financial aspects of human trafficking and advocated for information-sharing among stakeholders to monitor and respond to evolving trafficking trends. Additionally, Schofer emphasized the importance of survivor engagement in crafting trauma-informed anti-trafficking strategies.

Schofer reaffirmed the unwavering support of the U.S. Embassy in bolstering Pakistan’s efforts to combat human trafficking, while acknowledging the persistent challenges that lie ahead.

In conclusion, Schofer expressed determination to collaborate closely with the Pakistani government, businesses, survivor leaders, and non-governmental organizations to eradicate human trafficking and ensure justice for victims.
