ISLAMABAD: In a significant diplomatic exchange, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken engaged in a telephone conversation with Pakistani Foreign Minister Mohammad Ishaq Dar, underlining the shared commitment to fortifying bilateral relations between the two nations, said in statements issued simultaneously by the spokesperson of Foreign Office and U.S. Embassy in Pakistan.
During the conversation, a broad spectrum of topics crucial to both nations’ interests was discussed. Both sides reaffirmed their dedication to enhancing cooperation across multiple spheres, including trade, investment, climate change, agriculture, and security.
Of particular note was the emphasis on the importance of continued collaboration in counterterrorism efforts. Secretary Blinken underscored the necessity for sustained cooperation in this critical area, highlighting the mutual benefits of joint efforts in combating terrorism.
Furthermore, the conversation extended to regional matters of significance, including the situation in Gaza, developments in Afghanistan, and concerns in the Red Sea region. This comprehensive discussion reflects the shared commitment of the United States and Pakistan to promoting stability and security in the broader region.
Secretary Blinken took the opportunity to express the United States’ unwavering commitment to a robust partnership with Pakistan, emphasizing the importance of expanding trade and investment opportunities between the two countries. Additionally, he stressed the significance of advancing women’s economic security and empowerment as integral components of the bilateral relationship.
Both parties expressed satisfaction with the current positive momentum in bilateral relations, reflecting a mutual desire to build upon existing cooperation and further strengthen ties. The telephone call serves as a testament to the ongoing efforts to foster mutual prosperity and deepen the strategic partnership between the United States and Pakistan.
