ISLAMABAD: The Capital Development Authority (CDA) has intensified its crackdown on property tax defaulters by sealing three major properties in Islamabad. This decisive action follows directives issued by CDA Chairman Muhammad Ali Randhawa and Administrator Metropolitan Corporation Islamabad Rana Muhammad Waqas Anwar.
In the initial phase of this operation, the Director of Revenue for CDA and Metropolitan, accompanied by a magistrate and police, sealed Elzym Tower, Regalia Hotel in Sector G-6, and Plot No. C-1 in Blue Area. These actions were taken to enforce property tax compliance and serve as a warning to other defaulters. Additional properties listed as defaulters will be sealed in succession.
Chairman Randhawa and Administrator Anwar have reiterated their commitment to a zero-tolerance policy against property tax evasion. They stressed the importance of prompt payment of dues to avoid disciplinary measures and safeguard the welfare of Islamabad’s residents, especially during the current heatwave. They also emphasized that strict action is necessary to ensure the smooth functioning and development of the city.
“The sealing operation will continue throughout the month,” stated a CDA spokesperson. “All defaulters will be dealt with under the CDA Ordinance 1960, ensuring that no one evades their financial responsibilities.”
This enforcement drive highlights the CDA’s resolve to uphold fiscal discipline and improve the city’s revenue collection. The public has been advised to clear their dues immediately to avoid facing similar punitive measures. The CDA aims to create a fair and accountable system where all property owners contribute their share to the city’s development and maintenance.
Residents and business owners are encouraged to stay informed about their tax obligations and cooperate with the authorities to prevent inconvenience and ensure the continuous provision of municipal services.
This move by the CDA underscores the administration’s dedication to maintaining law and order, and fiscal responsibility within the federal capital, setting a precedent for stringent tax compliance in the region
