Lahore:Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar said that the 22 Smart Police Stations under construction in Lahore’s densely populated areas are progressing rapidly towards completion. All Smart Police Stations will be operational in accordance with Special Initiative Police Station protocols and SOPs. Dr. Usman Anwar mentioned that a total of 99 police stations are being constructed across various districts of Punjab, with 39 Smart Police Stations across the province also moving swiftly towards completion. Dr. Usman Anwar said that the construction of Smart Police Stations will result in a saving of over 4.5 billion rupees for the government. Previously, the construction of a single police station cost approximately 200-250 million PKR, but with modern design and multifunctional buildings, these Smart Police Stations are now being built at an estimated cost of 60-100 million rupees each. Previously, police stations in densely populated areas were set up in rented buildings, but now Smart Police Stations are being constructed on 1-2 kanal plots in these areas. Dr. Usman Anwar also mentioned that three Smart Police Stations are being built in Multan, two in Faisalabad, Gujranwala, Rahim Yar Khan, Rawalpindi, and Sialkot, and one each in Attock, Gujrat, Sahiwal, and Sheikhupura. He expressed these views during his visit to the under-construction Smart Police Station in Islampura, Lahore. Dr. Usman Anwar inspected various sections of the ongoing construction and reviewed the progress of the Smart Police Station’s construction work.
