Lahore:On the directives of Inspector General Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Highway Patrol (PHP), is diligently working round the clock to serve and protect citizens on highways across all districts, including Lahore. PHP teams are following standard operating procedures (SOPs) for enforcing laws and combating crime. PHP has released its weekly performance report, highlighting significant achievements. According to the report, PHP checked 527,243 individuals via the E-Police Post App. During the checks, 97 wanted criminals, and absconders were arrested. Furthermore, 258,305 vehicles were inspected, and 46 stolen vehicles/motorcycles were recovered. Under the road safety campaign, 48,900 E-challans were issued for traffic violations. As part of axle load management, 6,544 overloaded vehicles were fined, unloaded, and legally processed, generating a revenue of 21 million rupees in fines. Additionally, legal action was taken against 243 vehicles for illegal use of gas cylinders. To facilitate citizens, 3,722 driving licenses were issued, 16 missing children were reunited with their parents, and 44 temporary and permanent encroachments were removed to improve traffic flow. Assistance and guidance were provided to 2,276 passengers for various issues. PHP service centers provided facilities to 3,873 citizens, and 30 cases were registered for illegal possession of weapons. Moreover, 279 litres of liquor and 23 kilograms of charas were seized from drug dealers.IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar commended the PHP force for their outstanding performance and directed them to continue working with more dedication. He emphasized the need for ensuring smooth traffic flow, serving and protecting citizens with sincerity, and further enhancing field patrolling to provide every possible assistance and guidance to travelers on highways.
