Islamabad :It is important to make science a means of peace and development instead of destruction of the world, in the same way education diplomacy is also needed to bring peace, development and prosperity in the world” said the Chairman of Higher Education Commission. Prof. Dr. Mukhtar Ahmed in his speech as the chief guest at the opening session of the three-day annual conference of the Asian Association of Open Universities held at Allama Iqbal Open University. Educational activities continued through online education in Pakistan. He said that in the near future, other methods of education will be available in addition to online and blended mode, and the Higher Education Commission has decided to encourage distance education in Pakistan. And distance education policy has been introduced. Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Professor Dr. Nasir Mehmood said in his address that distance education system has now become an alternative system to face-to-face education, but the distance system is also facing some challenges. Which can be solved by the experts of the distance system together and the current conference will play an important role in this regard. Dr. Nasir said that as a result of digitization, Allama Iqbal Open University has access to the remote areas of the country and countries all over the world. has received He said that at present the number of students of Open University has exceeded 12 lakh, including international students from 35 countries. He said that under this system we are also providing education to prison inmates and transgenders. The official accreditation service of the Asian Association of Open Universities and the Asian Moocs Book (moocs book) ceremony was also launched. President of the Asian Association of Open Universities, Rector of Indonesia’s Trubuka Open University, Prof. Dr. Ujat Darujat and the Commonwealth Prof. Dr. Peter Scott, President of Learning Canada, was the keynote speaker for the inaugural session. He presented a detailed note on the importance and need of distance education and the services of the Association of Open Universities. They will support the joint efforts of promoting education under the distance education system.
He also discussed the advantages and dangers of artificial intelligence in distance and online education. He said that artificial intelligence technology can bring revolution in many fields, its positive use in the education sector is necessary. Conference organizer, Prof. Dr. Zahid. Majeed explained the aims and objectives of the conference in detail. He said that 70 international and 200 Pakistani academics from 14 countries are participating in this conference. He said that 180 papers will be presented in this conference, which we will publish in the journals of the university.
