Lahore:Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar has said that under the direction of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif, measures are being reviewed for the establishment of Riot Management Police. IG Punjab said that the establishment of Riot Management Police will be carried out in three phases across different ranges, with the first phase involving the establishment of Riot Management Police in Lahore, Rawalpindi, and Sargodha. Additionally, 5,000 constables will be recruited for the Riot Management Police and will undergo anti-riot training. IG Punjab further said that officers and constables of the Riot Management Police will be trained at all the training colleges and schools of Punjab Police. These remarks were made during a high-level meeting chaired by him today at the Central Police Office. During the meeting, DIG PHP Athar Waheed briefed on the action plan for the establishment of Riot Management Police. Various proposals regarding human resources, logistics, transport, and other measures for the establishment of Riot Management Police were discussed. Detailed discussions were held on the recruitment of constables, training, and the establishment of Riot Management Police headquarters. Additional IGs, DIGs, SSPs, AIGs, and other officers attended the meeting, while MD Punjab Safe Cities Authority Mohammad Ahsen Younis participated via video link.
