IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar Launches Driving License Awareness Campaign Across Punjab

Lahore:Inspector General of Punjab Police Dr. Usman Anwar announced the launch of Driving License Awareness Campaign across Punjab and nationwide from December 21 to December 31. The campaign aims to educate citizens on road safety, driving licensing, and traffic education. Dr. Usman Anwar said that, under the directive of Chief Minister Punjab Marium Nawaz Sharif, zebra crossings are being implemented outside educational institutions. Additionally, Traffic Education Wings are conducting seminars in schools and colleges to raise awareness about traffic rules. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that every possible step is being taken to improve traffic facilities for citizens, and as part of these efforts, a province-wide driving license awareness campaign has been launched. Dr. Usman Anwar emphasized that adherence to traffic laws will enhance traffic management and significantly reduce accident rates. The traffic awareness campaign aims to keep citizens safe from road accidents and protect both their lives and those of others during travel.These remarks were made during an important press conference at the Central Police Office with senior traffic police officials present, including Additional IG Traffic Punjab Mirza Farhan Baig, CTO Lahore Amara Athar, HUM TV CEO Duraid Qureshi, and senior HUM TV management member Sultana Siddiqui.Additional IG Traffic Mirza Farhan Baig shared that compared to last year, the number of driving licenses issued across the province has increased by 213%. The traffic police have played a significant role in road safety and addressing smog issues.CTO Lahore Amara Athar noted that online licensing services are available across the province, with 232,000 licenses issued in Lahore alone. She added that road safety education has led to a 28% reduction in accidents in the city.HUM TV CEO Duraid Qureshi stressed that road safety is essential for every citizen, while senior producer Sultana Siddiqui said that while creating awareness is the media’s duty, enforcement is the responsibility of the police.
