KARACHI, Aug 18 (NNI): Karachi has been pounded by heavy rains this monsoon season and Wednesday night was no exception as downpour continued in the city throughout the night, flooding not only low-lying areas but also main roads, thus disrupting the flow of traffic.
A family went missing when their car fell into Malir stream while passing through the rainwater at Link Road. Although the car was later fished out, search for the family members, stated to be six, and their driver was still underway till last reports came in.
Sources in the Edhi Foundation said that those travelling in the car belonged to Hyderabad, and they were going from Karachi to their hometown when they met with an accident.
According to reports three people have died in rain-related incidents in Karachi during the last two days.
Videos that went viral on social media showed a flooded Superhighway as well as submerged roads in Bahria Town Karachi.
Memon Goth SHO Atteq Rehman said that a Suzuki Alto car reportedly drowned and heavy flow of water swept it away. He said that the water level was so high that the police and rescuers could not find any trace of the car.
