According to security sources, a flag meeting between security officials of Pakistan and Afghanistan was held at the Afghan Customs House near the Torkham border. The meeting endorsed the decisions made in the joint Pak-Afghan Jirga two days earlier.

As per the flag meeting’s decision, the Torkham trade route has been reopened for commercial activities today. Several Pakistani cargo trucks crossed into Afghanistan, while Afghan freight vehicles entered Pakistan.

Security sources also confirmed that Afghan patients would be allowed emergency travel to Pakistan starting today.

The Torkham border will be reopened for pedestrian movement in two days.

It is noteworthy that the decision to reopen the Pakistan-Afghanistan Torkham trade route was made after 25 days of closure.
