LAHORE: Punjab Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif on Thursday vowed that the price of “roti” will be reduced commensurate with the decrease in flour rates across the province. The chief minister chaired a special meeting that reviewed reducing the price of ‘roti’ and the prices of other essential edibles. She directed to fix the price of ‘roti’ proportionate to the new price of flour and emphasized the price of “roti” must be reduced commensurate with the prices of flour across Punjab.Currently, the price of per roti stands at Rs14. However, a new rate for roti will now be fixed in proportion to the decrease in flour prices. The chief minister directed the Price Control Department to take immediate steps to closely monitor the prices of chicken, vegetables, and pulses across the province. The poor used to eat cheap chicken once a week. When it gets expensive, they will not be able to eat it even once a week. I cannot tolerate a hike in the prices of chicken under any circumstance,” she declared. She vowed to bring the price of ‘roti’ to the lowest level in Punjab’s history, stressing the benefit of the reduction in flour price should reach directly to the poor.Earlier, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz formally launched the enrolment campaign in Pakistan’s first state-of-the-art ‘Nawaz Sharif Centre of Excellence for Early Childhood Education’ (CEECE).The center has introduced excellent arrangements, colorful classrooms, a wonderful environment, and modern teaching methods from all private institutions. The Chief Minister formally launched the ‘Nawaz Sharif CEECE’ by ringing the preschool bell.In the enrollment campaign, Muhammad Yousuf, younger son of Provincial Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat, is among the first to enroll in the Center for Early Childhood Education.Education Minister Rana Sikandar Hayat became the first provincial minister to get his child admitted to a government school. The Chief Minister also unveiled the official uniform of the ‘Nawaz Sharif CEECE.’ She visited the Nawaz Sharif CEECE and interacted with children and their parents. The parents appreciated Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif for establishing the CEECE and acknowledged that there is no other institution like this center in Pakistan. The chief minister inspected gym, swimming pool and directed the gym and swimming pool trainers to ensure the safety of the children. She went to every classroom and presented gifts to the children. She also sang the traffic signal song with the children, went to the classroom, and sat on the carpet with the children.
