LAHORE:On the directions of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, Punjab Police is actively working to eliminate metallic string and kite flying. In continuation of this effort, operations are underway against violations of the Anti-Kite Flying Act across the province including Lahore. While sharing the details, the spokesperson of Punjab Police said that this year, 4,425 accused have been arrested and 4,341 cases registered across the province including Lahore for violating the Anti-Kite Flying Act. A total of 469,892 kites and 17,671 spools of string were recovered, and challans in 3,871 cases were submitted. In the provincial capital, 1,206 accused were arrested, 1,175 cases registered, and 27,612 kites and 1,393 spools of string were recovered. IG Punjab directed that strict implementation of the law under the Amended Kite Flying Prohibition Bill must be ensured. RPOs, CPOs, and DPOs should expedite the crackdown against kite flyers, sellers, and manufacturers. No permission will be given for this life-threatening activity, and a zero-tolerance policy must be adopted against those involved in this deadly business. Those involved in the online sale of metallic string and kites should also be brought under the law. Dr. Usman Anwar said that parents should keep their children away from this deadly game, and citizens should act responsibly by reporting any instance of kite flying by calling 15.
