Lahore:Punjab Police’s crackdown against proclaimed offenders wanted in heinous crimes and court absconders is continue vigorously. Punjab Police spokesperson, while sharing the details, said that during the current year, 98,335 proclaimed offenders have been arrested from across the province including Lahore, among which 33,509 are Category A proclaimed offenders and 64,826 are Category B proclaimed offenders. Similarly, police across the province have arrested 38,642 court absconders, including 8,666 Category A and 29,976 Category B court absconders. Furthermore, 19,818 habitual criminals have also been arrested, among which 7,662 belong to Category A and 12,156 belong to Category B. In the provincial capital Lahore alone, police have arrested more than 21,000 proclaimed offenders, 15,396 court absconders, and 8,470 habitual criminals.

The spokesperson of Punjab Police further said that 39 proclaimed offenders who had fled abroad were arrested and brought back to Pakistan, which reflects Punjab Police’s successful strategy at the international level. Inspector General of Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar, appreciated the police teams who arrested proclaimed offenders and court absconders and directed that the ongoing crackdown across the province be further intensified. He said that through close contact with complainants and effective information sharing, dangerous criminals should be brought into the grip of law. IG Punjab further directed that RPOs and DPOs should personally supervise the ongoing operations for the arrest of dangerous proclaimed offenders.
