KARACHI:The District City Police arrested a man allegedly involved in large-scale counterfeiting and currency fraud during an intelligence-based operation carried out by Garden Police, officials said on Thursday.The suspect, identified as Behzad, was found in possession of counterfeit Pakistani currency and fake U.S. dollars. Police also recovered forged PIA and Anti-Narcotics Force (ANF) joining orders, fake property documents, and counterfeit cheques from his possession.According to police, the accused had set up a network producing fake currency using black paper, chemicals, and other materials. Several metal dies for cutting notes to exact size were also recovered.The suspect had been involved in forgery and financial scams for the past four years along with his accomplices, who work as a medical representative and a call center employee. The group allegedly deceived unsuspecting citizens by offering fake job opportunities and handing out counterfeit appointment letters.During the raid, police also seized a bag filled with counterfeit notes and stacks of blank white paper cut to the size of currency bills.The DIGP South praised the SHO and his team for the successful operation and announced commendation certificates for them. A case has been registered, and further investigation is underway to trace other members of the counterfeiting ring.
