LAHORE:For the first time in Pakistan, Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif has developed a transparent digital system for the government sponsorship of widows and their orphans. In this regard  more than 50,000 helpless families  would be helped in the first phase.Under this initiative, it has been decided to introduce ‘Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card’ for widows and orphans in Punjab.Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif has approved ‘Rehmat Card’ for widows and children deprived of the love of their parents. Under this program, direct financial assistance of up to one lakh rupees will be provided to deserving families.The Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card will become an economic shield for more than 50,000 helpless families in the first phase, while the project will be formally launched immediately after Eid.Under this program, widows will be provided with Rs 100,000 and orphans with Rs 25,000. The Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card can be applied for through mobile application, web portal, call center and through Zakat Office.Provincial Special Assistant for Ushr and Zakat Rashid Nasrullah gave a detailed briefing on the Chief Minister Punjab Rehmat Card project.On this occasion, Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz Sharif said that widows in Punjab are no longer needy, but it is the responsibility of the state to ensure that widows get dignified rights, not charity. Every individual has full rights over the resources of Punjab and all resources will be utilized to ensure that the rights are given to the deserving.She said that the Chief Minister Punjab wants to lead widows on the path of self-employment through the Rehmat Card.
Maryam Nawaz further said that Punjab is a province where every individual is taken care of and through this program, widows and children will be able to live a dignified life with financial independence
