ISLAMABAD: The government is planning to issue permits for the import of tomatoes and onions and make them available at reasonable rates.
The permits will be issued in the next 24 hours on the suggestions of the National Food Safety and Research Ministry.
The Ministry of National Food Safety and Research suggested FBR to waive off the taxes and levies on the imports of Tomatoes and Onions for the next 90 days. The permits will allow the importers to bring in the vegetables freely and without any obstructions.
The prices for onions and tomatoes skyrocketed in Pakistan after the floods ravaged one-third of the country.
