HYDERABAD: Due to unexpected rains, the province went through a major disaster; this was said by Sabir Hussain Qaimkhani, MNA (MQM) and Member Prime Minister Flood Relief Committee in the opening ceremony of five-day electronic media workshop in Hyderabad. Qaimkhani while addressing the participants of workshop stated that, Human negligence is also one of the reasons behind uncertain climate change, adding to this he urge the developed countries to play their role.
He said that the UN Secretary-General visited Pakistan and assessed the seriousness of the situation and spoke at the international forum.
While addressing the urban flood situation in Karachi and Hyderabad the MNA said that there were flaws in the projects designed in the 1990s and one of the reasons for the lack of timely assistance was that there is no coordination between NDMA and PDMA.
The MQM MNA also thanked the people of urban areas who once again come forward to help their fellow countrymen.
Students from major universities of the city associated with journalism participated in this training program. The workshop will continue till September 28th.
This workshop “Climate Change, Floods & the Role of Media: Reporting & Coverage of Human Suffering” was arranged by Women Media Center, Pakistan in collaboration with National Endowment for Democracy, USA.
