ISLAMABAD, Oct 13 (NNI): A court in Islamabad Thursday granted bail to former prime minister and Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan in the female judge threat case.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Kamran Basharat Mufti conducted hearing on the bail petition of Imran Khan.
PTI’s lawyer Babar Awan contended that more than two dozen accused had already been granted bail. “It is requested that Imran Khan’s bail should be approved,” he pleaded.
The prosecutor opposed grant of bail to Imran Khan, and he stated that there was a sedition clause in the case against Imran Khan in which the bail was not possible. “Imran Khan has not yet joined investigation,” he added.
“On what basis was the sedition clause included in the case against Imran Khan?” the judge inquired. “Imran Khan is accused of inciting people,” the prosecutor replied. “Alright! But why was the sedition clause included?” he inquired again.
“Imran Khan has announced marching on Islamabad once again. In order to make the long march successful, the workers are being incited by using words like Jihad,” the prosecutor stated. “Imran Khan is deliberately violating the court orders. He and other PTI leaders are defaming the judiciary and the state institutions,” he added.
“Imran Khan has a history of defaming institutions. He is threatening the government that came to power in a constitutional way,” he argued. NNI
