ISLAMABAD: The National Assembly resumed its session on Monday evening in Islamabad and offered Fatiha for the departed souls of senior journalist Arshad Sharif, martyred hawaladar in North Waziristan, and others. Journalists walk out from the press gallery over the issue of Arshad Sharif’s martyrdom.
In the session, Federal Minister Shazia Marri moved a condemning resolution against the murder of Arshad Sharif and demanded impartial investigations.
The House unanimously adopted the resolution and condemned the murder of a senior journalist in Kenya.
Speaker Raja Pervaiz Ashraf chaired the session and administered the oath of two new members of the PPP including Ali Musa Gilani from Multan and Abdul Hakeem Baloch from Karachi.
After taking oath, newly elected Member of the National Assembly Syed Ali Musa Gillani has called for collective efforts to control political polarization, hatred and indecency.
Gillani thanked the people of Multan for reposing trust in him to represent them in the Lower House of Pakistan. He said the fire of hatred is spreading in the country and our country cannot afford this hatred at this time. “Foreign funding should be investigated to see where the foreign money is being used”, he added.
He further said that he is representing the people who have been demanding a separate province for them. It is their right and the authorities should consider it, Ali Musa added.
Senator Yusuf Raza Gilani was present in the guest gallery. A large number of people from Karachi and Multan were also present in the gallery.
Punjab provincially Assembly also offered Fatiha in its Monday session which was chaired by Speaker Sabtain Khan here in Lahore.
The Speaker PA suspended all the proceedings of the day and announced that the house will only offered condolence on the martyrdom of Ashraf Shaheed. In the session, Rana Mashhood said that PM Shehbaz made a telephonic contact to Kenya’s President William to probe the incident of Ashraf Sharif.
