ISLAMABAD (web News) – The PTI on Friday approached the Islamabad High Court (IHC) to seek permission to hold a rally in the federal capital.

The opposition party filed a petition in the IHC for direction on the issue of non-issuance of no-objection certificate (NOC) for the rally in Islamabad on May 6. The party requested the high court that the Islamabad deputy commissioner be ordered to issue the NOC for the rally.

The petition states that in the light of the Supreme Court’s 2022 decision, the rally from Zero Point to F-9 Park should be allowed, PTI’s peaceful workers should be stopped from being harassed and the DC should be ordered to instruct the Islamabad IG to provide security to the rally, it demands.

The PTI’s petition further states that the DC was approached for the NOC for the rally but he refused.

The Imran-led party has already announced countrywide rallies to show solidarity with the judiciary and the chief justice of Pakistan.

On Thursday, PTI chairman Imran Khan asked the public to take to the streets this weekend to express solidarity with Chief Justice of Pakistan Umar Ata Bandial amid ongoing conflict between the judiciary and parliament over holding of snap elections in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

In a video message ahead of his appearance in the Islamabad High Court in nine cases, the former premier asked people to come out of their houses for one hour on May 6 to foil the “mafias” designs against the top judge, adding that such elements were sparking divide among Supreme Court’s judges.

Lashing out at the ruling coalition, he said it was running away from elections and going against the Constitution of Pakistan and the CJP. “They are scared of elections as they have triggered unemployment and inflation in the country,” he said.

“Come out of your houses for the sake of your children’s future, country and to tell chief justice that nation is standing by you,” he urged the masses.

The defiant politician, who was ousted from the PM office through a no-confidence vote in April last, said the PTI would hold rallies in Lahore, Islamabad, Rawalpindi and Peshawar on Saturday to “save constitution, the country and Supreme Court”.
