ISLAMABAD: In response to numerous complaints received from the residents of PM Staff Colony G-5 regarding a shortage of water supply, efforts are being made to alleviate problems Blue woes, said DG water supply CDA Sardar Khan. Upon investigation, it was found that the Noorpur Water Works, located upstream of Bari Imam, was assisting in supplying water to the G-5 area, he added. However, due to the summer season, the discharge from the water works remained at only 25%, providing a meager 0.2 million gallons per day (MGD) compared to the required 1 MGD. The situation, the DG said is expected to improve after the monsoon season.
To alleviate the water scarcity issue, it was decided to increase the daily water supply from the Simly source to PM Staff Colony from 6 hours to 6.5 hours. This improvement will help mitigate the water shortage problem in the colony. Furthermore, it was identified that the old network infrastructure posed an additional challenge, necessitating the laying of an additional 6-inch diameter pipe for a permanent solution. The concerned authorities have been directed to promptly prepare an estimate for the required work.
Similar complaints were also received from Shahzad Town regarding a shortage of water supply. To address this issue, a visit was conducted with all the supervisory staff responsible for tubewell production and distribution. It was discovered that there was a coordination gap among the staff, as no one had highlighted the underlying issues. To rectify this situation, a schedule has been fixed, and all concerned parties have been directed to maintain close coordination to ensure regular water supply, at least once every 24 hours. Furthermore, it has been instructed to share the daily supply status within the group to keep everyone informed.
Thankfully, there are sufficient main supply sources of tubewells in the areas, providing an optimistic outlook for resolving the water shortage problem in Shahzad Town.
