Islamabad (Staff Reporter) The need to learn local and foreign languages has become more important than before, in view of this need, the Vice Chancellor of Allama Iqbal Open University, Prof. Dr. Nasir Mehmood has activated the Center for Languages and Translation Studies of the university. Foreign language courses have been developed and admissions have started in August. Language courses include Chinese and Japanese language, Gurmukhi script, forensic linguistics and natural language processing. Chinese and Japanese language courses are of three months duration while Gurmukhi. The script learning course is of 2 months duration. Seats are limited, admissions will be given on merit. Classes will be held face-to-face during evening hours on office days at the main campus of the University. Matriculation or equivalent education (minimum Second Division) is prescribed for admission. Courses in Forensic Linguistics and Natural Language Processing are of 4 months duration. Includes, face-to-face weekly classes. Eligibility for admission is Intermediate/A Level or equivalent (minimum second division) education.
