Gas theft crackdown: 163 more gas connections disconnected in Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad, more than 42 lakh fines imposed

Lahore (Bureau Report) During the ongoing crackdown against gas theft in various areas of Punjab, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Islamabad under Sui Northern, 163 more gas connections were disconnected, and fines of more than 42 lakhs were imposed on those involved in gas theft. are In Peshawar, Sui Northern Gas has imposed a fine of more than two million rupees for meter tampering, direct consumption of gas, disconnection of 32 connections for illegal connections and gas theft. Three FIRs were also registered in the respective police stations against the gas thieves. In Rawalpindi, the regional team disconnected eight gas connections, while the gas thieves were fined Rs 17,000. In Mardan, six gas connections were disconnected for tampering with meters and two for direct use of gas. The regional team also imposed a fine of Rs 65,000 on gas thieves. Nine gas connections were disconnected in Sialkot for using compressors. In Sargodha, two were disconnected for use of compressors and one for illegal extension of the line. In Gujranwala, the regional team took action and imposed fines of Rs. 745,000 for gas theft, besides disconnecting 14 gas connections. During operations in Gujarat, three connections were disconnected for illegal use of gas and fines of 65,000 were imposed. 13 connections were disconnected due to illegal use of gas in the federal capital Islamabad. In Sahiwal, five connections were disconnected due to the illegal transfer of gas line, while an FIR was registered against the gas thieves. The region also imposed fines of 1 lakh 17 thousand on gas theft. In Faisalabad, the regional team imposed fines of 16,000 besides disconnecting 22 connections during the crackdown. In Lahore, two fines were imposed for illegal use of gas, four for using domestic connection for commercial purposes and one for disconnection of connection for use of compressor. In Bahawalpur, the regional team took action and disconnected five connections for use of compressors and five for illegal use of gas. In Multan, the regional team imposed fines of Rs. 62,000 besides disconnection of gas connections of 15 gas connections for use of compressors and seven for illegal use.
In Sheikhupura, three connections were disconnected for direct consumption and illegal extension of gas.
