ISLAMABAD: In a message commemorating the Thirty-Ninth SAARC Charter Day, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar expressed warm greetings to SAARC Member States and the people of South Asia.
The Prime Minister reflected on the significance of December 8, 1985, when visionary leaders adopted the SAARC Charter, emphasizing their commitment to collaborative efforts for the progress and prosperity of the South Asian region. He underscored the shared responsibility to address common challenges such as poverty, illiteracy, disease, and underdevelopment.
Highlighting Pakistan’s steadfast dedication as a founding SAARC member, Prime Minister Kakar affirmed the country’s active participation in SAARC processes and activities. Emphasizing Pakistan’s belief in regional cooperation, he stressed the importance of adhering to the principles of sovereign equality and mutual respect enshrined in the SAARC Charter.
Prime Minister Kakar expressed confidence that obstacles hindering SAARC’s smooth functioning would be overcome, enabling member states to advance in mutually beneficial regional cooperation. He commended the SAARC Secretariat’s efforts in facilitating the organization’s smooth operation.
In closing, Prime Minister Anwaar-ul-Haq Kakar extended his best wishes to the people of South Asia, urging collective efforts to unlock the region’s true potential for the benefit of South Asia and the global community.
