ISLAMABAD: In a significant political event, Asif Ali Zardari took the oath of office for the second time as President of Pakistan. Chief Justice of Pakistan (CJP) Qazi Faez Isa administered the oath during a formal ceremony at Aiwan e Sadr. The event witnessed the presence of various dignitaries, including outgoing President Dr Arif Alvi, Prime Minister Muhammad Shehbaz Sharif, top military officials, governors, chief ministers, Speaker of the National Assembly, parliamentarians, political leaders, diplomats, and members of the media. Chairman Joint Chiefs of Staff Committee, services chiefs also attended the ceremony. Former three-time Prime Minister Mian Muhammad Nawaz Sharif, his daughter and Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz and other senior government functionaries also present on the occasion.
Asif Ali Zardari, now serving as the 14th President of Pakistan for a second term, previously held the position from 2008 to 2013. His election to the constitutional slot came through a majority vote from the electoral college, consisting of members from the Parliament and four provincial assemblies. Zardari’s reappointment to the presidency marks a significant development in Pakistan’s political landscape.
