Lahore: Chairperson Commission on the Rights of Child (NCRC) former Senator Ayesha Raza Farooq visited the Central Police Office and met IG Punjab Dr Usman Anwar, Mahek Naeem, a member of the Commission on the Rights of the Child, was also present. DIG Welfare and Finance Ghazi Muhammad Salahuddin, AIG Welfare Amara Shirazi, senior officers were present in the meeting. During the meeting, prevention of crimes related to children, joint action plan for protection of children rights and promotion of bilateral cooperation came under discussion. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar appointed police focal person for effective coordination with National Commission on the Rights of Child. AIG Operations Dr. Asad Ijaz Malhi and AIG Welfare Amara Shirazi have been appointed focal persons from the Central Police Office, while written instructions have been issued to DPOs for effective coordination and joint actions with the National Commission on the Rights of the Child.
IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar said that Punjab Police and NCRC will adopt a joint action plan to prevent child abuse and other crimes. IG Punjab told the delegation that hundreds of children who ran away from home, lost and missing have been safely reunited with their parents through the Mera Payara app of the Punjab Police. 150 children affected by thalassemia and 560 children affected by cerebral palsy are being given monthly stipend for treatment.IG Punjab further said that the Punjab Police has established a protection center, Tahaffuz manzil foster home for homeless and destitute children. Chairperson NCRC Ayesha Raza Farooq also visited to visit different sections of CPO, Aabshar khidmat markaz Shadman, Liberty Service and Protection Center and Special Initiative Police Station Gulberg, where ASP Gulbarg Syeda Shaherbano Naqvi briefed the delegation about the facilities available at the Aabshar Service Center, Protection Center Liberty. Chairperson (NCRC) Ayesha Raza Farooq appreciated the steps taken to upgrade the police offices and improve the quality of service delivery. At the end of the meeting, IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar presented a commemorative souvenir of Punjab Police to Chairperson (NCRC) Ayesha Raza Farooq.
