TEL AVIV: The Islamic Republic of Iran has carried out a proportionate military action against the Zionist regime, targeting military bases in occupied Palestine with drones and ballistic missiles. According to Iranian officials, the action was carried out within the framework of Iran’s inherent and legitimate right of self-defense, as stated in Article 51 of the United Nations Charter.
The military strike was in response to a recent attack by Israel on the consular section of the Iranian embassy in Damascus. This attack resulted in the deaths of seven Iranian military advisors who were present in Syria at the official invitation of the Syrian government. Iran condemns the attack as a violation of international law, including the 1961 Vienna Convention and the 1973 New York Convention.
Iranian authorities stress that no civilians or non-military targets, such as cities, hospitals, synagogues, or infrastructure, were targeted during the operation. The military action was precise and focused solely on military bases.
The Iranian government has expressed its determination to defend its sovereignty, territorial integrity, and national interests against any illegal use of force and aggression. Despite the military action, Iran emphasizes its adherence to the principles and goals of the United Nations Charter.
Iran’s approach to the situation demonstrates a responsible attitude towards regional and international peace and security. Iranian officials highlight the root cause of the ongoing crisis as the Zionist regime’s aggression and genocide in Gaza.
In a statement, Iran reiterated its call for an immediate cessation of war and ceasefire in Gaza, as well as the free flow of humanitarian aid to the war-stricken regions.
Iranian officials note that the response was minimal and limited in scope, with a focus on punishing the Zionist regime. They warn that if the regime continues its actions, future Iranian responses will be more severe and decisive.
The Iranian government emphasizes that while it seeks to avoid an escalation of conflict, its restraint is not indefinite. The continuation of the conflict could lead to a miscalculation by the Zionist regime, potentially resulting in a stronger Iranian response.
