A review meeting regarding the Chief Minister’s Traffic Action Plan was held at the Central Police Office under the chairmanship of Inspector General Police Punjab, Dr. Usman Anwar. The meeting was attended by Additional IG Traffic Mirza Farhan Baig, MD Safe Cities Authority Muhammad Ahsan Younas, DIG IT Mansoor-ul-Haq, DIG Traffic / PHP, SSP Traffic, and AIG Welfare. All Chief Traffic Officers (CTOs) and District Traffic Officers participated in the meeting via video link.IG Punjab reviewed the performance of CTOs and District Traffic Officers with regard to the 100 tasks assigned under the Chief Minister Punjab’s Traffic Action Plan. He also evaluated their performance in improving licensing systems, traffic management, and reducing traffic accidents. IGP Punjab directed that the crackdown against overloaded goods and passenger vehicles must continue. A dashboard will be developed to regularly monitor data related to e-challaning, licensing, and road management in alignment with the Chief Minister’s traffic tasks. To help prevent accidents, drivers’ licenses should be checked at bus terminals, stands, and goods transport hubs. The distribution of body cameras to traffic officers should be expanded to all districts. Road infrastructure development and the removal of encroachments have contributed significantly to improved traffic flow. The performance of CTOs and traffic officers is being monitored under the Chief Minister’s 100-task initiative.IG Punjab also indicated that action will be taken against District Traffic Officers demonstrating poor performance. He emphasized that district officers must remain active in the field to improve traffic conditions. Those who consistently fail to fulfill the CM Punjab’s tasks or exhibit continued poor performance will be removed from their positions. Vehicles violating one-way rules, over-speeding, or involved in overloading should be impounded at police stations. Animal-drawn carts (horse, donkey, ox) and motorcycle rickshaw trolleys must not be allowed on main roads under any circumstances. IG Punjab further directed strict action against unauthorized and unapproved goods transport vehicles.
