LAHORE:Riot Management Police initiative is advancing in line with Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz’s vision of strengthening law and order. As part of this effort, training for the first batch of 3,000 Riot Management Police personnel has been successfully completed. The passing-out parade of this batch is scheduled in the coming days, after which the trained personnel will be deployed to regional headquarters to begin their duties.Additional IG Riot Management Police Khurram Shakoor, accompanied by DIG Riot Management Police Asad Sarfraz, visited the Police Training School in Farooqabad. During the visit, DIG Asad Sarfraz briefed the Additional IG on the training modules. Additional IG Khurram Shakoor encouraged the trainees, noting that the force has been trained to meet modern-day law and order challenges through a well-structured and contemporary training program. The eight-week course included specialized drills to maintain high standards of fitness and operational performance.Khurram Shakoor also highlighted that procurement of specialized equipment and gear for the Riot Management Police has been completed. Following approval from the Punjab Government, recruitment for an additional 2,000 personnel will soon commence. He also commended the efforts of the training staff for delivering high-quality instruction.According to the Punjab Police spokesperson, 500 RMP personnel will initially be deployed in Lahore and Rawalpindi, while 250 personnel will be posted to each regional office. Teams of officers and personnel will include units dedicated to mob engagement, mob control, water cannons, tear gas, rubber bullets, stun grenades, long-range acoustic devices, evacuation, arrest operations, first aid, advance parties, drone operations, snipers, and canine handlers.
