LAHORE: The first-ever ART (Automated Rapid Bus), to be made part of the public transport system, has reached Lahore.ART is a modern trackless system and the train runs on rubber tires.Chief Minister Maryam Nawaz expressed happiness over the arrival of the ART bus, on X in Lahore and called it a modern, effective and environmentally friendly travel facility for the public.Maryam shared a video of the modern bus in her post and wrote in the caption that ART is based on the latest trackless system that runs on rubber tires and can carry 300 passengers at a time, it is a new model that goes beyond tradition and ensures effective use of investment and environmental protection. She said that the ART bus will soon be run for a test run on canal road Lahore to evaluate its functionality and performance.CM Maryam Nawaz, in her message, said that 1,100 electric buses are being manufactured in China for Punjab, of which the first fleet of 240 buses will reach Pakistan on August 22. These buses will be sent to districts where public transport facilities are not available.LDA and NESPAK have started work on the design of the project.

Lahore Development Authority sources told APP that in this project, no trees will be removed, while an underground trackless-tram will be run by cutting and covering on the Orange Line Mall Road station-style.
