ISLAMABAD:Chairman Capital Development Authority (CDA) and Chief Commissioner Islamabad, Muhammad Ali Randhawa, held a high-level meeting with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia to Pakistan, Nawaf bin Said Ahmed Al-Malki, on Thursday aimed at bolstering bilateral cooperation. The meeting, described as cordial and constructive, focused on deepening collaboration in urban development, cultural exchange, and investment opportunities, particularly in Islamabad’s hospitality sector.A key agenda item was a proposed Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between the CDA and Saudi Arabia concerning the iconic Faisal Mosque, a symbol of Pakistan-Saudi friendship.Highlighting the strong brotherly ties between the two nations, Randhawa said, “Pakistan and Saudi Arabia share a bond rooted in faith, friendship, and mutual respect. Islamabad is committed to further strengthening this cooperation.”He also reaffirmed that Islamabad would remain open and welcoming to Saudi investments and partnerships, particularly in areas related to urban planning and cultural heritage. The Saudi envoy commended CDA’s ongoing efforts to enhance the capital’s urban landscape and civic amenities. “The difference in quality of life and beauty of Islamabad is being felt day by day,” said Ambassador Al-Malki, praising CDA’s horticulture initiatives and a newly developed state-of-the-art nursery, dubbed the “Gardenia Hub.”Ambassador Al-Malki also emphasized Saudi Arabia’s sustained interest in supporting Pakistan across economic, cultural, and religious spheres. He shared that targeted meetings between Saudi investors and Pakistani officials are underway, particularly with a focus on establishing high-end hotels in the capital. In addition, both sides discussed preparations for Saudi Arabia’s upcoming National Day on September 23.Randhawa assured the Ambassador of CDA’s full support in coordinating necessary arrangements in collaboration with other government departments. The meeting concluded with a mutual pledge to enhance Pakistan-Saudi relations through practical cooperation in urban development, tourism, and cultural initiatives.
