Editor Report

Lahore:The Punjab government has taken a major step against the land grabbing mafia and has prepared a draft of the Anti-Land Grabbing Act 2025. The draft law will be presented in the Punjab Assembly after the cabinet approval. It proposes to form a committee headed by the Deputy Commissioners in each district. The committee will decide the land grabbing case within 90 days. It has also been proposed to form a special tribunal for land cases. It has also been proposed to punish the land grabbing mafia with 5 to 10 years of imprisonment and a fine, while those who make false applications will be punished. The tribunal will also be able to immediately return the land to the owner. It should be noted that under the old laws, cases would drag on for years and the affected people did not get relief quickly.
