ISLAMABAD:A high-level meeting chaired by Chief Commissioner Islamabad Muhammad Ali Randhawa on Wednesday decided to strengthen security monitoring across Islamabad by expanding CCTV surveillance at all entry and exit points of the city. The meeting, held at CDA Headquarters, was attended by Inspector General of Police (IGP) Islamabad Syed Ali Nasir Rizvi, CDA Board Members, Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, DG Safe City, DIG Operations, and senior officers from CDA, Islamabad Police, and ICT Administration.Officials briefed the meeting that the Safe City system has been upgraded with advanced surveillance technology, enabling real-time monitoring of highways, commercial centers, and residential sectors. The system is manned 24/7 by trained personnel to ensure quick detection and response to any security threat. As part of the new plan, CCTV coverage will be reinforced at all key entry and exit routes of the capital, complemented by enhanced police patrolling and snap checking to prevent unauthorized movement and curb criminal activities.Chief Commissioner Randhawa directed concerned departments to ensure foolproof coordination between Islamabad Police, CDA, and ICT Administration, emphasizing that public safety remains the top priority. He stressed adopting a zero-tolerance policy against crime, supported by technology-driven surveillance and rapid response measures. He also lauded the efforts of Islamabad Police and district administration for maintaining peace and normalcy in the city, reaffirming that the federal capital’s security infrastructure is being modernized to meet contemporary challenges.
