Lahore:Inspector General of Police Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar met Traffic Inspector Muhammad Azam at the Central Police Office, Lahore. On this occasion, RPO Sargodha Dr. Shahzad Asif and AIG Discipline Tahir Rehman were also present. IG Punjab Dr. Usman Anwar appreciated the services of Traffic Inspector Muhammad Azam for effectively creating public awareness regarding amendments to the Motor Vehicles Ordinance and traffic laws. He said that positive results of the road safety awareness campaign are emerging.On the directives of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz, Traffic Inspector Muhammad Azam was awarded a cash prize of Rs. 100,000 for showing outstanding performance, while he was also presented with an appreciation letter by Punjab Police. IG Punjab said that the vision of Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz for safe roads and road safety is being ensured. Due to effective enforcement of traffic laws by the traffic police, traffic accidents have reduced by up to 80 percent. He further said that as a result of the Punjab Police awareness campaign, public awareness has increased and a 900 percent rise in the issuance of driving licenses has been recorded. It may be noted that Chief Minister Punjab Maryam Nawaz Sharif had also encouraged Traffic Inspector Muhammad Azam’s road safety awareness campaign on social media.
