ISLAMABAD:According to an official statement issued on Tuesday, the auction process was conducted on a transparent and merit-based system, attracting strong participation from bidders.The highest bid was recorded for the cattle market in Sector I-12, which was auctioned for Rs 200.1m. This was followed by the Sangjani market at Rs 62.5m. The market set up at Zia Mosque fetched Rs 50m, while the Sultana Foundation site was auctioned for Rs 25 m.Two smaller sites — on Japan Road and in Bhara Kahu — were auctioned for Rs 6.2m and Rs 6.1 m, respectively. In total, six cattle markets were leased out for Rs 349.5m.Officials said the auction figures reflect an increase of around 120 per cent compared to last year, indicating heightened competition and improved revenue generation.A total of 104 bidders took part in the auction process, which authorities said was carried out with full transparency.The CDA also announced that a cashless payment system would be implemented in all temporary cattle markets to streamline transactions and reduce irregularities.Meanwhile, the Directorate of Municipal Administration (DMA) has been tasked with ensuring strict monitoring across the city to prevent the establishment of illegal cattle markets.In line with directives from CDA Chairman and Chief Commissioner Sohail Ashraf, officials said a zero-tolerance policy would be enforced against unauthorised setups.Authorities maintained that the establishment of designated cattle markets aims to facilitate citizens, ensure hygienic conditions and maintain cleanliness standards in the federal capital during the sacrificial season.
