ISLAMABAD:Intermittent rain continues in the federal capital, with both light and heavy spells reported in several areas.District administration officials said that pre-monsoon measures are in place, and field teams have been deployed to manage drainage and traffic flow.According to the district administration, the ongoing rain spell has tested early preparations made ahead of the monsoon season. Officials reported that timely cleaning of drains and low-lying areas has helped improve water drainage across different parts of the city.
A spokesperson for the administration said that rain has been falling at intervals, with intensity varying from light to heavy in different localities. The situation is being monitored closely to prevent water accumulation and ensure that routine life continues without disruption. On the directions of the Deputy Commissioner Islamabad, all Assistant Commissioners are present in the field. They are supervising operations in their respective areas, particularly focusing on low-lying locations and stormwater drains where the risk of water buildup remains higher.
Meanwhile, sanitation staff have been deployed across the city to support drainage operations. Officials confirmed that water pumps and other equipment are being used to remove rainwater from areas where natural drainage is slow. This has helped reduce the chances of flooding on roads and in residential zones. In addition to drainage management, the district administration is working with traffic police to ensure smooth movement on major roads. Officials said coordination between departments has helped maintain traffic flow despite the ongoing rain. Measures are in place to manage congestion in areas where water on roads could slow down vehicles. The spokesperson added that field staff remain active and are responding to any emerging situation. Authorities have urged residents to remain cautious during rain and avoid unnecessary travel in areas prone to water accumulation. The district administration reiterated that pre-monsoon planning has played a role in handling the current rain spell.
