LAHORE:Punjab Counter Narcotics Force (CNF) foiled a major drug smuggling attempt on the M-4 Motorway and seized 376 kilograms of hashish worth over Rs 54.6 million, dealing a significant blow to an international narcotics network.According to a CNF spokesperson on Thursday, the operation was carried out by the Faisalabad Division’s strike team at Aminpur Interchange on intelligence-based information.During the operation, the suspects opened indiscriminate fire on the CNF team, resulting in a tyre burst of an official vehicle. However, the team responded effectively and took into custody a Toyota Fortuner loaded with narcotics.CNF Director General Brig. Mazhar Iqbal said that the operation was conducted on the basis of intelligence and reaffirmed that actions against drug traffickers would continue in the future.He said that a zero-tolerance policy against drugs was essential to rid society of this menace, adding that the force remained committed to achieving the vision of the chief minister Punjab.
