ISLAMABAD: Mushaal Mullick, Chairperson of Peace and Culture Organisation, has urged the United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) to suspend India’s membership for its failure to address the key human rights concerns expressed by UN and the OIC during third Universal Periodic Review (UPR). Mushaal Mullick, wife of jailed Hurriyat leader Muhammad Yasin Malik, in a statement in Islamabad said only international sections can make India answerable. Despite strong protests from human rights organizations, including the United Nations and the OIC, the Indian government has failed to address the key human rights concerns expressed during the third UPR, she added.
She appreciated over two hundred civil society groups for raising concerns over the worsening situation in Indian illegally occupied Jammu and Kashmir (IIOJK) and said the world should take steps to resolve the Kashmir dispute as per the will of the Kashmiri people.
Mushaal further said that the Narendra Modi-led Indian government had crossed all limits of brutalities and fascism; hence the world powers and human rights organizations should have to come forward to stop the ongoing genocide and ethnic cleansing of Kashmiri people. NNI
