RAWALPINDI: In the midst of his USA visit, Chief of Army Staff (COAS) General Syed Asim Munir engages with UN Secretary General Antonio Guterres at UN Headquarters, New York.
During the meeting, UNSG Guterres warmly welcomes General Munir, lauding Pakistan Army and Law Enforcement Agencies for their steadfast commitment to global peace and stability.
General Munir reaffirms Pakistan’s unwavering support for the United Nations and emphasizes the crucial role of finding a peaceful resolution to the Kashmir Dispute in achieving lasting peace in South Asia.
Addressing ongoing crises, COAS condemns India’s unilateral actions in Jammu & Kashmir, citing violation of UN Security Council Resolutions. He also expresses deep concern over the Gaza issue, urging international mobilization for an immediate cessation of hostilities and advocating a Two State Solution for a lasting resolution.

COAS highlights the dire situation faced by innocent civilians in conflict zones, stressing the need for increased humanitarian relief. UNSG Guterres acknowledges these concerns and expresses gratitude for General Munir’s visit to the UN Headquarters.

This meeting underscores Pakistan’s commitment to global peace and resolution of longstanding disputes through diplomatic channels. Army Chief also conveyed Pakistan’s concerns over the situation in Indian-Occupied Kashmir and Afghanistan, diplomatic sources told revealed.

Pakistan is particularly concerned about the Indian Supreme Court’s decision to endorse the merger of occupied Kashmir and wants the UN to fulfil its pledge to enable Kashmiris to decide their future through a plebiscite.

Pakistan has also been alarmed by a sudden increase in militant attacks and is seeking international support to end the “cross-border terrorism from Afghanistan”, said the sources.
