ISLAMABAD: Pakistan on Thursday morning struck terrorist hideouts in Iran’s Siestan-o-Balochistan province, less than 48 hours after Iran violated its airspace.
In a strategic move, Pakistan launched Operation Marg Bar Sarmachar, conducting precision military strikes on terrorist hideouts in the Siestan-o-Baluchistan province of Iran. Foreign Office Spokesperson Mumtaz Zehra Baloch said in a statement, “Codenamed ‘Marg Bar Sarmachar’ (Death to Terrorists), the operation was driven by Pakistan’s longstanding concerns about safe havens for Pakistani-origin terrorists within Iran”.
Pakistan, having shared multiple dossiers with concrete evidence of terrorist activities, cited a lack of action on its concerns, leading to this morning’s operation, statement added. The objective was rooted in credible intelligence warning of impending large-scale terrorist activities by the group known as Sarmachars.
The success of the operation underscores Pakistan’s commitment to national security, with a focus on defending its citizens against all threats. While respecting Iran’s sovereignty, Pakistan emphasized that the act was solely in pursuit of its security and national interests, with no compromise.
Pakistan, as a responsible member of the international community, asserted adherence to UN Charter principles, including respecting territorial integrity and sovereignty. The country vowed never to allow its sovereignty to be challenged under any circumstances.
Highlighting Iran as a brotherly country, Pakistan expressed respect and affection for the Iranian people. Despite the military action, Pakistan reiterated a commitment to dialogue and cooperation in addressing common challenges, particularly the menace of terrorism, and sought joint solutions with its neighbor.
