ATTOCK: The verification process for the deserving families has kicked off across the Attock district on Saturday to provide CM Punjab Nigehban Ramzan Package during the holy month of Ramadan. Official sources said that the district administration had provided the data of 86 thousand families who would get food bags at their doorstep after the verification process. This delivery process will start from March 5. The bags will carry at least 10 kg flour and 2kg each of sugar, rice, ghee and basin.
Deputy Commissioner Attock Rao Atif Raza chaired the meeting regarding Ramadan package here on Saturday which was attended by Additional Deputy Commissioner Revenue Attock Waqas Aslam Marth Additional Deputy Commissioner General Attock. Adnan Anjum Raja Additional Deputy Commissioner Finance and Planning Maleeha Itsar, officials of food and revenue department besides assistant commissioners of all six tehsils to finalize the processes of verification as well as the distribution of food bags. Deputy Commissioner Raza directed that comprehensive arrangements should be made for the delivery of the goods to the remote areas of the district and to deliver it to every house so that every household can be provided with the goods on time. He stated that all records will be compiled in the Assistant Commissioner’s office while a third-party audit of the entire scheme will also be conducted.
Later talking to newsmen during monitoring the verification process, Mr Raza has said that the data of families registered with the Benazir Income Support Programme (BISP) is being verified by the land revenue field staff as well as the local bodies employees for the distribution of bags carrying dry food items under the Nigehban Ramzan programme of the Punjab government. He said that the district administration has devised a strategy for distribution of “Nigehban Ramadan Package” ration bags to the deserving people from 1st of Ramadan. He said that the verification of deserving people has been started door-to-door and telephonically in the Attock district through the Benazir Income Support Program and NADRA data. Responding to a question about transparency and merit in the delivery of the package, Mr Raza said the report of daily distribution of food bags would be updated on the app prepared by the Punjab Information Technology Board PITB and a third-party audit of the distribution would also be conducted. “The district administration, food department, and food authority will jointly carry out this noble cause”. He added.
