CAIRO: The Ambassador of Pakistan hosted a reception in connection with celebrations of the 84th National Day of Pakistan. Engineer Mahmoud Esmat, Minister of Public Business Sector of Egypt, graced the occasion as the chief guest.

A large number of Egyptian government officials, parliamentarians, members of diplomatic corps, business community, academia, journalists and members of Pakistani community attended the reception.

In his welcoming remarks, Ambassador Sajid Bilal paid glowing tributes to the founding fathers who rendered relentless sacrifices for realizing the dream of a separate homeland for the Muslims of the sub-continent.

Ambassador Sajid Bilal stated that Pakistan stands proud today as the country has achieved extraordinary milestones, played a critical role in the resolution of problems facing humanity, and substantially contributed towards maintaining global peace and security. The Ambassador highlighted that Pakistan has recently taken various steps to enhance the ease of doing business and upgrade the governance structure through establishment of Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC).

Appreciating the positive trajectory in bilateral relations between Pakistan and Egypt through substantive interaction between the leadership of the two countries, the Ambassador stated that Pakistan-Egypt historic relationship is built on strong foundation of common faith, cultural affinities and aspirations. We are committed to transform this relationship into an enduring partnership, the Ambassador reaffirmed.

The Chief Guest in his remarks extended best wishes and felicitations from the people of Egypt to the people of Pakistan on this auspicious occasion. He noted with satisfaction the holding of Pakistan-Africa Trade Development Conference and Single Country Exhibition in Cairo. He stated that these interactions have opened up vast avenues of cooperation in commercial and investment fields. He said that he is confident that Pakistan and Egypt would take the existing bilateral economic and trade cooperation to new heights.

A corner, projecting arts, crafts and cultural heritage of Pakistan, attracted the attention of many diginitaries. Documentaries on Pakistan’s tourism potential, cultural heritage and ethnic diversity were also played at the occasion.
